Rocky plays football?!?

Enough with the "inspirational true story" crap. An underpriveledged Philly native invests his last chance at sucess in (sport of choice here) to live their dreams and fall in love? Sound familiar?

If only he had beat up a Russian.

Hey guess what. This movie WAS based on a true story, Rocky wasn't. I don't see your point.

reply

My point is, don't use the fact that it was a "true story" to defend a movie that has themes that have already been masterfully expressed by another greater, fictious one.

You sure like that line from Titanic. Glad you reminded me. Forgot that one.

Whats with the "True Story" nonsense? It was infact a true story...and...the Rocky movie came out at the same time as Vince was playing...AND he even wore a shirt that said Italian Stallian sometimes. They even said in the bonus feature how neat it was that these two things were so similar and going on at the same time and one was real life while the other was a movie.

It was a banner year for Philly. In the same year Vince Papale earned a spot on the Eagles roster, Rocky hit the big screen. An an underdog fiction and an underdog non-fiction in the same year.
