Papale's Ex-Wife
Has anybody heard what ever happened to his ex-wife, Sharon? If she was anything like the woman in the movie, it would be nice to hear that she married 3 more times and got stuck with 6 kids.

shareThey named the woman Vince worked with at the bar "Janet" to make a nice story, whereas in reality he and wife number two divorced in 1983 and he married Janet (wife number three) 10 years later. Not sure if Sharon was the real name of wife number one. I guess is what they mean when they say "based on a true story".
shareI was wondering if they were implying that those two lived happily ever after
shareActually, they hedge their bets even more by stating that this film was "inspired" by a true story. With a qualifier like that you can portray anything you want.
shareWatching the movie for the first time tonight. I wasn't suprised that the twat walked out on him.
After her complaining about him working two jobs I thought "oh what she's gonna take off now?" Which she did.
God some women are so damn lazy. Probably thought he wasn't going anywhere and would try cashing in by remarrying a lawyer or doctor while her looks were holding up.
She did him a favor, if she hadn't walked out, he would have never tried out for the Eagles. That letter she wrote keep him going, just to prove her wrong.

In the movie yes. In real life, things went differently. He got a try out because he had played semi-pro ball in a different league.
shareThanks for clearing that up. I really hoped they weren't implying that he met his current wife during that time and stayed with her. Totally not the case.
Living in the area, I know Vince definitely took advantage of his 'star' status at that time and the women that came along with it. I forget if this is his 3rd or 4th marriage.. but he certainly hasn't been with the same woman since '76
