sharethat might just have been his character. his wife just left him - in a particularly cruel way, his buddies are all pretty much out of a job because they're on strike, there are various refferances to vietnam which has ended the year before this was set, so maybe the guy wasnt trying to get his hopes up. i liked his performance, i thought it was true to a bartender from south philly in the mid 70's who was way out of his league playing in the NFL with no college experience, at an age where most players retire or see a significant reduction in play time. back then at least.

i like wahlbergs acting, hes very good, and he did very well in this movie. parts were depressing, but remember, this was a true story, and it was telling that story.
