scored a touchdown?

I dont mind their dramatizing his life. But having him score a touchdown when the records clearly show he didnt, is a bridge too far. That is easily checked.

Nobody said it was a touchdown. But it was a real play that happened. They did dramatize it a little bit though for the movie. But they thought it was a touchdown at the time. The real Vince was jumping up and down and the people loved it. It wasn't a touchdown, but just the fact that they showed guts on that play was a big moral booster. Vince read blitz and he went for it in the end. It was a pretty cool moment.

I think its shown as the credits role with the real clip, lot closer to the line, but still pity it did not stand

I think the movie would have worked just as well had they stuck a little more closely to the actual play. Adding in the "at the 40, the 30..." part just cheapened it all.

I thought the reason that they put the longer run into the movie was that it aligned with earlier dialogue where they said 'Papale at the 40, Papale at the 30...' etc.

I've watched the movie numerous times and never had the impression that the 'touch down' shown in the movie and at the end during the credits was not actually a touch down. Then again I don't know much about Grid Iron.....

You can't advance a muffed punt in the NFL. What was shown in the movie is what happened in real life. They just didn't further clarify the TD did not count.
