Kurt Warner vs Vince Papale
I just saw Invincible for the first time last night. I really liked the movie despite its liberties with the facts. Several scenes got me choked up and I thought Wahlberg and Kinnear did great with their roles.
My question is: How do you make a movie about Vince Papale instead of Kurt Warner? Papale's story IS interesting, but it happened 30 years prior. Kurt Warner's career seems tailor made as the Cinderella story of all Cinderella stories.
He goes undrafted in 1994
Signs and is cut by the Packers
Fails a tryout with the Bears because of a spider bite!!
Bags groceries at Hy-Vee
Plays superbly in the Arena League
Gets a long-shot tryout with the Rams
Takes over only due to an injury to Trent Green
Wins the Super Bowl
Struggles with injuries
Loses starting job to Marc Bulger
Gets traded to the Giants
Loses his job to Eli Manning
Catches on with the Cardinals for one last hurrah
Almost beats the Steelers in SB XLIII
Good lord, I just wrote the script. How could Disney or anyone NOT get this on film. The only thing I can figure is either Kurt (or his obnoxious wife) refused to allow their story to be filmed OR no one wanted to deal with their deep religious beliefs. I think there is a great story in there and it could have made a great movie. Papale making the Eagles was awesome, but what did he do but play on special teams for three years. Warner was MVP and led his team to a Super Bowl win and almost did it again 9 years later.
My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
