Can somebody explain why people from the government wanted him dead? Wasn't he working for them?

What I gathered was that the new guy (bald one) in the gang received instructions from the woman in the corporation - which worked for the president- to take carden out. The rest of the people wanted to rescue him. so why kill the guy who had been doing his job correctly? After all, Carden set out to kill that billionaire in the funeral despite all.

It was never well explained, and it really made no sense. They never said why the woman wanted Carden dead so badly, and they never (that I can remember) explained who hire Carden to begin with.

Well, at least Carden had an absolutely foolproof plan to get the job done.

if miles wanted freeman to kill the billionare why did she try to kill him before the job was done?
