Why does Cardin comply?

As if Keene is going to shoot or maim him if he doesn't comply...he can wave that gun in his face all day...but what the heck is Keene actually going to do if Cardin doesn't comply.

Also -- why doesn't Cardin push Keene and the boy into the ravine during the rain storm...Cardin is on the safe side and they are both standing on the very edge...one swift kick and there they both go.

Because this movie sucks

That's actually a legitimate answer.

I agree. The goal must have been to make a movie that sucks. It's the only explaination. I thought about it too toward the beginning when the boy sees that guy get shot by Cardin's friends. The bad guys (who have guns) are only a few hundred yards from them. So let's say Cardin yells to his friends "Hey I'm over here!" Keane wouldn't shoot Cardin 'cause then the bad guys would come after them and there's no way Keane could hold off two ex-military heavily armed men with just a little six-shooter. If I was Cardin I would have just explained this to Keane at that point and then walked away freely.
