Did Morgan Freeman even read the script?

This movie was awful. I just find it hard to believe that Morgan Freeman read this ridiculous script and actually wanted to do the movie.

"Zodiac" 8.8
"Lady in the Water" 8.3
"The Weather Man" 8.2

I don't know about that but in the special features John Cusack said he didn't read it before he agreed because Freeman was in it.
