Freeman is masterful

This was a well-done, well constructed, and beautifully shot film. Morgan Freeman was excellent, (as usual), and the rest of the cast was superb. It required suspension of belief at points, i.e. the descent of the cliff face & Cusak taking out the pro mercenary, but it IS a movie. It doesn't require 1/2 the stretch that the "Die Hard" series does.
Just as an additional point, I found the absence of gratuitous profanity refreshing. NO, I am NOT a prude...."Boondock Saints" is my favorite film...all 237 "f-bombs". Profanity fit those characters...it would not have fit in "The Contract".

Why would it not have fit these characters? Did they need 237 f-bombs? No. But "you sound like you have a nice tush" or "get into the freekin helicopter"? Are you kidding?

And the Die Hard films establish their suspension of belief early, occasionally go beyond it, but for the most part stay within the universe that is created. This movie doesn't really do that.

Not to mention, it was one of the worst written movies I've ever come across. There wasn't a positive thing I witnessed in this movie.

I agree with the OP.
