The Helicopter crash (spoilers)

Did anyone else find the helicopter crash pretty stupid?

I mean, the chopper's tail rotor was shot off (or knocked by a tree?) rendering it completely uncontrollable and the rest of the chopper falls probably 100 feet or more and the three people inside get up and walk away to continue their pursuit? Surely they would have been killed, or at least incapacitated so they couldn't go on with what they were doing? Not even a broken bone?

The chopper crash was very realistic.....

Your point is well-taken, but oddly enough I was willing to accept the idea of a helicopter crash that freakishly allows all on board to survive with minimal injuries. It was the non-stop trash-talking and swearing that the characters kept up without missing a beat in SPITE of the fact that they'd just survived such an event. The writers/director (their fault, after all) simply decided that it was OK to have them sound like a bunch of kids in the family station wagon after a fenderbender. This movie is FULL of such minor but aggravating moments.

LOL!!!!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed all the weird idiosyncrasies in this movie, including the copter crash.

The one guy in the back seat says (and had they even stopped careening a half mile on the ground and smashing into the woods at a complete stop when he said this?) to the driver - all he could say was "where did you learn to fly, disneyland?" .....

And then they jump out like they acutally are at an amusement park and just got off of a ride, and away they go fighting each other - just like someone else said - like kids on family vacation or something. To quote some of the other posters : WTF???

I mean, I was like laughing by the end of this movie (and being that it's not a comedy, that says something) it was that pathetic and weird. The only draw was the 2 leads. You expect WAYYY more with actors like that - someone dropped the ball on this thang!

B/C movie AAALLLL the way.

I thought the helicopter crash was quite realistic. Lots of people walk away from helicopter crashes. the gang characters needed a bit of work to be sure. i was thinking the crash would be lame but I think they did a great job of it. It's not Black Hawk Down or anything but it was better than the crash sequence of Behind Enemy Lines.

First of all, surround sound- I enjoy your posts. I am normally on the other Cusack post but ventured off to this one. Yes, you can call me one of those strange folk that purchased this movie.. but hey - it was a used copy really cheap.

I tend to see both sides on the helicopter crash. The movie had many TV style lines throughout- not just the crash. What I noticed the most from this scene was why the guys didnt appear more banged up? Realistically they wouldnt appear right away - right? And, if you had the adrenaline going I guess you can run around all over the place right away....

Nice to meet you all on this post.

Hi insyder, thanks for your comment. I guess that was the only thing I missed, they weren't really banged up, no injuries from breaking glass or tree limbs. That said, on the whole the physics of the accident seemed solid enough - this wasn't your ordinary M*A*S*H style Bell 47, or Jetranger. This helicopter was bigger, stronger than those.

I was in a car accident a few months ago and I felt next to no physical pain for the first couple of hours (apart from a bruised knee) then eventually the neck started hurting and the rest of the body with it.

Thanks for your insightful assessment of my argument.

I think the result of the helicopter crash was pretty stupid, but the physical aspects of the crash were nicely done (except for how intact the cockpit section was at the end).

I'd say it was the best part of the film, until you see how totally okay they all are....and then it gets worse when the monumentally $hitty dialogue starts up again.

Exactly.
