So a few facts for you.
a) Berlin is - together with Cannes and Venice - one of the three most important film festivals in the world. It also is the main festival where normal movie lovers can see new and smaller films. Infact as far as I've seen many of the screenings were sold out
b) Whether a movies makes it to any of those festivals, depends on when they are finished. Indeed, some of the Hollywood productions that are shown in Berlin have already been in the theatres in the US. There were quite a lot of world premieres this year though too, and actually the really great film weren't from the US.
c) "Bordertown" was the only movie I've seen in competion where people were booing (at some other occasions some of the audience was leaving earlier though). I've seen all but one of the press screenings in competition, so I know what I am talking about. But: Not everybody was booing at the 'Bordertown' screening, there were as many people clapping. So this proves nothing.
Having said that your "crush" on Jennifer Lopz is quite remarkable Do you always spend your time with something you hate rather than something you like?

I saw the movie today and it is really bad. It starts pretty well until after the rape scene where things go downhill very fast. The dialouges at some points are so bad, and delivered so weakly, that they are involuntarily funny. There were a lot of moments where the whole cinema LOLed, but maybe it's just the german voiceover. At least it was funny, so it wasn't all bad after all but for the wrong reasons. The subject this film touches is really important and sad. With a better concept/story and better actors one could have made an excellent movie about this. But Bordertown is just a cheesy predictable flick with very bad acting a bad overall story and very few strong scenes to push it's cause.
