I am sad for people who don't get it...

OMG, don't you feel sorry for people who don't get it? What a loss for them.

An amazing construct of visual, audial and emotional art. A socio-political statement about so many things that effect people on so many levels, then and now, and especially today. And its all wrapped up as engrossing, enlightening entertainment. That's the best an artist/filmmaker can strive for, and this cinematic treat definitely achieves it!

I agree 100 percent, amazing movie top to bottom.

Don't be sad. It just means we actually remember the Beatles AND the Sixties. This movie captures neither of the these things in such a way as to be believable by those who were actually there. The story telling is lazy, cliched and obvious, and the Beatles' songs are exploited in the sloppiest way possible.

To listen to some of the praise, one would think that they took the Pirates of the Caribbean Disney ride and now believe they were actually sailing with pirates.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

Sorry to disappoint you hodie, but I grew up in the sixties. I remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show with my parents, who couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about!

Its clear that you have hate for this film but I liked it. As did Paul and Ringo. Argue with that.

reply

Agreed with you hodie.
It was a very low quality movie; there's nothing to "get"; you like it or you don't, that's it.

reply

Utter baloney, hodie. Both Ringo Star and Paul McCartney loved this movie. I know many people who were "actually there" (I was just a few years too young, myself)
who also love this film.

reply

well I WAS actually there and it really reminds me there WAS a time before the American Beauty took over in 1970

Literally. People who hate this obviously need some help. One of the beat films I've ever seen.

..2007 was a great year for movies, probably the last great year.

- Across the Universe was my pick for best movie of 2007. Seen it seven times in the theater. Did a long review of the movie. This movie is unique, and a tribute to the Beatles, and for a young generation who didn't grow up listening to them.

....stunning visuals, great singing and some touching moments. A lot of people never got this movie.

Instead of being sad for people who DON'T get it, I am happy for the people who Do! It s such a joy to watch something that has heart. I was born in the 50s and loved the Beatles. More than half my. CDs are still Beatles. This is one of my favorite movies. And thanks for introducing me to Jim Sturgis.

I feel sorry for anyone who "loved" this movie. The acting was weak and the imagery was overbearing. People that "loved" this music video don't really get Jimmy, Janis or John.

Like Paul and Ringo? (both of whom totally endorsed this film).

I'm glad your acid trip was an enjoyable experience

What does "OMG" mean?

reply

OMG is american for Oh My God and is a throwaway expression for WTF is going on

they are strung together as befits the gravity [npi] of the situation, eg 9/11 drew about 6 from most americans and Gravity say about 3

I agree with you Op I loved this film...but the sad fact is anytime you fV(k with The Beatles music there is a tsunami of backlash that no actor, director,Joe Cocker, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith or even Bono could overcome... Its best to leave The Beatles catalog alone..its a no win situation..
