Mart Hunt wants an anti-doping clause in his fight with Overeem

Basically if The Reem gets popped, Hunt gets a cut of his fight money. I mocked Hunt a lot for his crying after losing to Lesnar, but I like this idea, I think it's far more productive than essentially paying off the athletic commissions for pissing hot. Pay the guy you cheated out of a fair fight, pay the commission, take a year off and come back rusty as hell with the division passing you by.

Interesting idea. I'm not sure how good it would turn out in practice. Like, does Jacare really deserve some of Romero's purse after it was revealed that supplements were tainted? It seems like the fighter that pops can just appeal and claim innocence, keeping their entire purse. I guess they'd have to put some kind of deadline on it.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how win bonuses are handled? Fighters either get it right away or they don't. If they do get it right away before test results come in, then they either get to keep it or they have to return it.

There's gotta be some leeway in there somewhere to hand money over to the clean fighter. It just needs to be fleshed out. Mark might be on the right track.

Win bonuses aren't considered part of the "purse". Just like "undisclosed" checks and other bonuses that fighters get.

The UFC has taken bonuses back. I remember a Caraway (spelling?) talking his way into a bonus after a fighter was in trouble for something after winning a bonus.

Right, I think taking a "popped" fighter's win bonus away and giving it to the losing "clean" fighter might be a good start.

The actual purse is where the idea may not work out so well.
