My theory about the Zodiac killer

So, it's true that Arthur Leigh Allen was obsessed with Vallejo victim Darlene Ferrin. Zodiac survivor Mike Mageau picked Allen out of a lineup, but he gave two different height descriptions, and he also remembered someone having a fat face, which Allen didn't have. Also, the night of the shooting, two different vehicles pulled up to Ferrins car before the attack. The movie made it look like they were ten seconds apart, but it was actually ten minutes.

So, it's very plausible that Allen was stalking Ferrin, and discovered the bodies after the shooting. And Mageau remembered his face, which is why he picked his picture.

I'm a strong believer that Rick Marshall and Bob Vaughn were behind the murders, with Marshall doing the killings and Vaughn doing the writing.

Have you mentioned any of this to Detective Toschi?

Where are you getting your information? Mageau picked out a picture of Allen in a PHOTO LINE UP 22 two years after being shot. 22 years later he tried to identify a man he barely saw the profile of.

When did Mageau give conflicting written reports of his attackers height? He said the man appeared to be 5'8 when Ed Rust interviewed him in 1969.

Also, how do you know two different cars were at the scene during the blue Rick's shooting? Mageau did say the same car from 10 minutes earlier came back.

Bob Vaughn was at Lake Berryessa with Ruck Marshall to write on Bryan Hartnells car?

reply

I think the two vehicles the OP is referring to were the ones that threw spit balls at the car. They were the ones Mike Mageau yelled *beep* off and die!" to.

reply

No offence, but I'd suggest you do a bit more research on the case itself, instead of relying on either the movie or Robert Graysmith's two books about the crimes. There's actually no evidence of any kind that Allen and Darlene Ferrin ever knew or met each other, nor that Allen, Marshall, or Vaughn were in any way involved in the Zodiac crimes. What's more, the police did not regard Mageau's identification of Allen as a "positive ID" in any way - Allen actually looked nothing like the original description of the killer that Mageau gave back in 1969, nor did he resemble any of the other eyewitness descriptions of the Zodiac, either.

But didn't darlene work really close to where Allen lived?

reply

Yes, she did - in fact, lots of other people also lived very close to where Darlene worked. What's your point?

reply

And even if Allen were linked to the crimes, the fact that he worked close to where she lived doesn't prove anything.
