Great, great film, but something I noticed toward the end. SPOILERS

When Jake Gyl's character went to face Lee in the hardware shop, how come Lee did not recognize him on sight? If Jake's character had been getting phone calls from who he thought was Lee, wouldn't Lee at least know what he looked like? Also, remember when his wife got upset because he had appeared on TV? I dunno, maybe years had passed and Lee just forgot about him, but that was odd. Overall, a good film. In regards to the real case, makes me wonder if more than one person was involved in these killings, like a group or cult.

It's my house, and I live here.

Not necessarily, but he probably did know what Robert looked like, and if he did, it could have easily taken him a few seconds to recognize him. That certainly seemed to me to be the case.

reply

I thought they were implying that Lee did recognize him after a second or two.

That's my take on it. It took him a moment, but it seemed to me that Leigh did eventually recognise him; that's at least what I took from Leigh's changing expressions. Then he didn't know what to do about it, seeing how unexpected the meeting was.

reply

We don't know that Lee didn't recognize him. There was no dialogue that indicated if he did or didn't but Lee was definitely disturbed by his presence.

reply

But he did recognize him. That was clear.

What makes you think Lee did not recognize him? And why does it matter? Consider the setting. Lee is at work, at this hardware store. He has interacted perfectly properly with this individual, this customer by asking him if he can help him. When Robert says no, and just looks at him, what else is supposed to happen? Nothing. You have to consider the setting. Lee is working.
