THAT scene in the basement...
Gives me chills everytime I watch it.

Though it was fictitious, it unnerved me.

This event does take place in Graysmith's book.
He heard somebody walking upstairs, even though the man said they were alone in the house. Graysmith claimed in the book that he was not afraid, as people knew he had come there.

Yup, gives me the creeps! Just saw it again today!! I remember being terrified when I saw it at a cinema when it first came out, it's very effective in the dark ;)

Yes probably the only scene not picturing the actual murders that chilled me to the bone. The set up by Fincher was brilliant though. From no car to rainy stormy weather outside to the slow revelation that the guy was the one who did the writing on the poster, to the creepy basement, the footsteps upstairs to the locked doors and of course the perfect casting of that weirdo opposite Gyllenhaal. It was so perfectly constructed that it couldn't fail. Fincher the ultimate director!
shareWhy did he go down there?!?!? Just say I'll wait up here for you, and get out! I understand it was for the movie but I was creeped out way before he went down there.
shareWho was the person walking upstairs?
shareUtterly terrifying. It always gives me the creeps. I re-watched it all alone last night, and shortly after, once I was about to fall asleep, it came once more to my mind, so I had to get up and watch a few cartoons
