The most disturbing death scene of any film IMO. I think it was because of how helpless they were with their hands tied behind their back and the way she was screaming with such distraught while being stabbed. It stayed with me for weeks and I'm not usually bothered by such scenes.
Anyone else feel like this? Is there any other movies which you think were worse?
The Lake Berryessa scene was very very raw. I think the fact that there was barely any music but rather just the sound of the breeze in the background made it all the more realistic. Not to mention a murder happening in broad daylight in public, yet secluded added to the eerieness.
It was shot from Brian's perspective ( the guy ) it's exactly how he saw it . The girl kept screaming therefore the killer kept stabbing . While Brian cleverly played dead .
We skip that scene. The actress looks a lot like my Mom (at that time). It's just too rough to watch, perhaps partially because it represents a real death.
Yeah just got done watching the movie for the first time, came here to say just that...that was too realistic, really horrible to see. I don't recall any other murder scenes from movies having that kind of affect. just so...real, I guess. No fancy camera work, music, slick editing...anything, just watching someone who could only scream as they were being stabbed to death.
Jesus criminy that was brutal.
There was that scene in Saving Private Ryan though, when the guy runs out of ammo, wrestles with the German soldier until he's pinned underneath, with the knife being pushed into his chest? The solder telling him to "Shhhh" as it slid into his heart...man couldn't get that out of my head for days. That scene and this one, probably the most traumatizing scenes I've seen in cinema to date.
Great movie though...surprised I've missed seeing it for so many years, really well done.
