Silent battle

I've just watched this movie again, and it reminded me of one of its greatest delights: the beautifully delineated silent battle between Eisenheim and the Prince. Stunning piece of acting by Rufus Sewell, who put such depth into the slightest throwaway comment or even tiny movements of his face it was truly gripping.

Yes, the other three were spectacularly good, no doubt - I've always thought Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel were better than they're usually given credit for, and Edward Norton is so self-evidently good he almost needs no comment - but for me, Rufus Sewell's acting really set the tone for the film.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
