How i would do the sword trick

There is another explanation related to magnetism. When Eduard handles the sword he turns the sword itself into a magnet. Since like poles of a magnet repel each other, the top of the sword(say, North) is repelled while the bottom(South) is attracted to the magnet under the floor(North on top). This would keep the sword upright.

Also one of the volunteers is dragging the sword on the floor so there are clearly no "hooks". It's just magnets. As for turning the sword into a magnet, any metal can be turned into a magnet by rubbing it with another magnet in a particular way (though this would be time consuming). Also, it's possible that he applied small quantities of a transparent paste with some tiny magnetic particles suspended in it to the sword to turn it into a magnet.

If it all seems fanciful, do a google search for the Konark Sun Temple magnets. This temple had such perfectly aligned magnets (63 tons of it!) that a metal idol placed in the middle "floated" in mid air for centuries. In fact, the whole temple was held together by magnets. Magnetism is pretty intriguing.

There are certain places around the world, where the magnetic forces seem so powerful that cars start rolling uphill!! (Actually there are other explanations for this but I have been to one of these places and it certainly is disillusioning!) Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_hill
