A Wanna Be 'Usual Suspects' ending that does not deliver [spoilers]

Did anyone else think that the ending was eerily similar to the technique used in the film the Usual Suspects to unravel the plot? I thought it was a poor attempt to copy a method of unveiling a plot twist that the Usual Suspects mastered.

I agree completely. The "clues" in this movie were not laid out in a way that Giamatti's character could've deduced the entire plot like he did in this movie. His epiphany was poorly conceived. Usual Suspects actually got it right.

i thought the same exact thing about the usual suspects like ending. i agree there were absolutely NO clues that called for his epiphany. theres no way he could even think that. i thought the movie was pretty wack. nothing really happens in the 105 minutes.

Yep, me too. Exact same thoughts. I watched the end of it in disbelief - just why!? What possible clues did he get, or could he have possibly got that this was the way it paned out? It's either just guesswork on the inspectors part, or sloppy screenplay on the writers part, and I firmly favour the latter. The fil looked lovely, and had a great atmosphere, but the plot sketch is so as thin as the apparitions and doesn't stand up to any examination. Really disappointing end.

It's a technique used in a lot of murder mysteries as an end "revelation".

It could have been better though.
