According to the article I read titled "What was Real in Borat" the rodeo manager seems to differ with you on the authenticity of that scene. Here's one part of the article-
What happened: The event caused quite a stir. John Saunders, the Salem Civic Center?s assistant director, told the Roanoke Times that if Borat and crew hadn?t high-tailed it out of the arena, ?There would have been a riot. They would have been killed.?
No where in article does it say that anyone from rodeo scene believes editing resulted in the event being shown differently than it really was. However, other participants from the movie do complain and were very upset by the film. Those poor frat boys, bless their hearts, sued. They?re seeking unspecified damages for ?humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community.? I'm hoping they didn't reach a settlement and that they did indeed suffer each of those things as they would be well deserved, in my opinion. But that's a whole other post. My point is, if others complained about deception or being shown in a bad light why didn't the town, the rodeo association or the manager speak up when others did? Seems to me what we saw was real.
