I rewatched this movie yesterday (on AMC)

I saw this movie in the theater with my wife back in 2005 (the year we got married). We went to the movies one night and ended up watching two movies..."Saw II" (which we watched first) and then this one. πŸ˜ƒ Just my wife and me...before we had kids, newly married, and so much in love! πŸ˜ƒ

I've never seen the original movie with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball, but, from just about everything I've read/heard, the original movie was better. I won't dispute that...there are flaws with this movie and there are other movies better than this.

However, re-watching it yesterday...it wasn't as bad as I remembered it. I'm sure part of that was due to feeling "nostalgic" from seeing this again, but I also really like the message of this movie. Like Frank and Helen in the movie, my wife and I are "polar opposites" in many ways...and it's not easy being married to someone like that. But I like that the movie had them fight through their differences and stay together in the end. It requires sacrifices and compromise...but it's so worth it in the end.

I liked seeing the younger actors/actresses and recognized a few of them (Danielle Panabaker, Miranda Cosgrove, Drake Bell, et.al.). They were fine...I'm going to check and see what happened to each of them.

Finally, I just liked the overall positive vibes that this movie gave. I felt better by the end of the movie (I do like the way that it ended). It was just light-hearted entertainment for a couple of hours.

So...while this isn't the greatest movie ever made...I'm still glad it was made. I enjoyed watching it yesterday and will make it a point to re-watch this more in the future.
