3D movies
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against 3D movies as such though it seems to be mostly a fad the comes and goes every decade or two. But what's with the stupid stuff they do to say "look, look, we're doing 3D"? I'm sure it doesn't look all that good in 3D but in 2D, it looks bloody preposterous and totally destroys the immersion. Spear up to Beowulf's eye? No, it looks like the dude's carrying a fscking huge metal lance thing. Totally egregious "things coming out of the screen" shots all over the place.
I'm not picking on Beowulf in particular though, it seems to plague every 3D movie. Friday 13th had the "over the pan popcorn popping" shot and people waving and throwing things out of the screen. Avatar had a lot of it noticable too.
Just concentrate on trying to make a good movie guys and if you're doing the 3D, let that take care of itself (except for avoiding the known issues it causes with framing etc). Leave the cheesy 3D stuff for rides at Disney.
