I'd love to see more major blockbusters done this way
The performance capture style.
The sort of 'hyper-reality' look where they are going for realism but still allow the film to have it's own sort of visual style.
I mean, I imagine that to make the movie as a live action film, virtually frame for frame with no compromise from what it is now, that it would have cost quite a bit more then the $150 million it took to make this film.
I mean, all of the locations, the creature effects, the fact that it is a period piece so all of the sets/costumes/production dsign would have to be manufactured. The various action set pieces.
I imagine that for the biggest of the big blockbusters that this would be a somewhat cheaper alternative.
Plus, it's just a cool look visually...it allows you to sort of stay in the realm of reality while stylistically bending the rules in some places.
