I felt like Wiglaf was mis-handled at the end

Wiglaf has a smaller part in the original story, he is a young warrior who shows up and helps Beowulf during the battle with the dragon.

I love that they expanded his role for the film, he is Beowulf's friend from beginning to end...but I felt he should have played a larger role in the climax of the film.

Wiglaf had quite a pivotal part in helping defeat the dragon in the poem...but in the film, despite having a much much larger role in general, he has almost no involvement in the battle with the dragon.

I would have liked to see it play out differently. Obviously you can't have him and Beowulf both riding on the damn thing and going under water with it and everything like that. But Wiglaf's involvement could have been upped.

Coming up those steps on horseback and seeing Beowulf's sword was to short to reach the dragon's heart, I halfway expected to see Wiglaf throw a spear to Beowulf to use.

I think that's the point of the story, to show how these old heroes would lie and change the facts around as they saw fit.

In general I saw the movie as the "what REALLY happened" version of the story. And in the end Wiglaf got to decide what version of the story passed on - hence, him saving the day in the end.
