I agree completely with the sentiment, but the reason is obvious: Here in the U.S., CG movies are equated with kiddie fare. They're babysitters. Of course, traditional animation and CG animation are art mediums which can just as easily tell mature stories, and this is recognized particularly in Japan.
You might check out Final Fantasy: Advent Children. It's a sequel to a video game with some byzantine plotting, so some of the story will be lost on you. However, it has gorgeous animation and superlative fight scenes. Here's a trailer:
