Beowulf looked like Sean Bean
Why didn't they just get Sean Bean to play Beowulf lol. When I saw the trailer I thought they used Sean Bean, not Ray Winstone. Anyone else think it was Sean not Ray?

shareWatching it now on Sky and yeah i can hear Ray Winstone but i can see Sean Bean lol
shareIt did look similer to Sean bean, but not exactly like him. I guess they thought somebody like him would be more appropiate as the hero or anti hero depending on how you look at him. I guess you might just call him the convenient warrior to kill the monster they have stirred into attacking them.
The real voice actor, Ray Winestone might have been compared to Wigaff -- his offsider-- or the King. Short and stockey.
Although I don't see harm in in using somebody that looks exactly like Ray Winstone. I guess hwe wouldn't be somebody that is the very epitome of Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. The Canon of Proportion. A pefect opposite to Grendel who's asymetrical as well as disfigured. His voice talent, like that of cockney speaking english man. A few people have found that inappropiate, but I don't mind so much. The details of these stories oftened get altered in the years and translations. Didn't Geats end up occupying south England. I know alot of people did, I guess that doesn't really matter now.
I like the way he talks, particuly when he's boasting or lying outright about what he did. Like killing Grendel's mother. he's good at lying, at sotry telling, but as the veiwer you can tell by the tone of his vocalisation that he embellishs alot.
I thought the female bard who plays the lute or mandolin was modeled on Glenn Close or atleast a younger Glenn Close. I think it's Robin Wright Penn. Not sure about her voice talent, but she did sing that hero song.
Grendel's mother on closer inspection looked like double of Angelina Jolie without looking exactly like her. Did she do the voice for her as well.
No, Beowulf looks like Boromir because they're dressed similarly and have facial hair.
"Ah. Multiple exclamation points, the true sign of a deranged mind."
Sean Bean is the one who played Boromir in Lord of the Rings.
This cgi Beowulf looked like Sean Bean.
I guess I can see a resemblance. That would explain why I found the character kinda hot, lol. I'm not one to find animated characters attractive, but I like the filmakers' interpretation of Beowulf's physical appearance.
Ray Winstone provided some nice voice acting and certainly has a sexy voice, but in real life, Sean Bean is much more attractive.
There are few things as fetching as a bruised ego on a beautiful angel.
Patrick Stuart
shareSean Bean's voice can't match Ray Winstone's boast, really. He's too calm to do it. Besides, it's the use of CGI anyway. Just imagine if Ray Winstone plays Beowulf in live action....
And actually when I see the real Winstone and compared it with Beowulf, well, it's disturbing because they have similar face. Beowulf's here looks like if Ray Winstone had undergo several body building training

That's funny. The entire movie I thought it was Sean Bean doing his best performance ever. Then after the movie I noticed Ray Winstone's name. I immediately knew I had to see this again. Then I read these comments about how the 3d version is amazing. I'm not big on 3d but considering I've seen the movie already I look forward to it! Awesome movie! Awesome story. Awesome acting/animation. 9/10 2d
shareDitto here, totally convinced it was Sean Bean until I saw the credits. Great cast either way.
