I didn't watch the Royal Rumble, but I read that Batista's back hit the floor first and that Cena landed on top of him.I also read that Vince Mcmahon came out and ordered the match to be restarted since the refs could not decide who won.I know that Batista won,but I wonder if the outcome will be changed. If anyone has any information please let me know
Well I watched the replay again today (I taped it, it's the 3rd time I've watched it already!), yeah it did seem Cena fell on Batista as they both tumbled over. But it was probably booked to be like that where they're supposed to hit at the same time, so the match went on. The ring bell never rang after they both fell out, or when the match restarted, so the time was still going. Batista threw Cena out in short order after the "restart."
After they both tumbled over at the same time, back in the ring, Batista threw Cena over to the floor, then Cena came back in and throws Big Dave over, but since the refs were still arguing, the clock was still running, so Vince came down and ordered a continuation of the match. He slips climbing into the ring which is pretty funny, so he just sits down, heh heh. If he hurt his leg or knee though it's not funny.
Great Royal Rumble, the undercard was pretty good, one of the best of all Royal Rumbles. Some more Iron Man performances in the rumble match this year....Chris Benoit was #2 and lasted over 47 minutes, Edge came in early around #6 or 7 and went over 40 minutes, Rey Mysterio came in right after Edge and went over 38 minutes. Pretty good stuff.
i've also checked how they both landed a coupple of times (i downloaded the rumble) and to me it looks like their feet hiy the floor toghether. Needless to say they of course practiced the finnish so that it would look like their feet hit the floor at the same time. But still Cena is on Batistas shoulders when they both go over the topp roop... well i was watching it with a friend and we both both went "flashback to '94 talk about reeusing old material!"
Then Vince Vince shows up, busts his right knee upon entering the ring, and once inside the ring he cant stand up hehe :D well the Batista/Cena match gets restarted and then Batista gets a clean win.
I think it was a pretty good rumble too but there were waaay to many loosers in it, eight or nine of the entrences i think. I was also supprised that Mysterio lasted an impressive 38 min and was one of the final four, normally the lightweight gets trown of in about five min after entering. Seeing Flair as #30 was great also even if it really wasn't that hard to see comming
Yeah I guess they hit at the same time, it just seemed that a part of Cena landed on Batista, and I wasn't watching their feet.
I wish, back in '94, that the rumble would have been restarted just like this years. Seeing Luger win (co-winner even) makes me sick, I would have hoped for Bret to win. He almost won in 1997, actually he DID win but the refs were with Funk and Mankind on the outside. He eliminated Stone Cold but he got back in quickly and threw Vader and Undertaker out at the same time (I think it was Austin), then Bret threw out the Fake Diesel (Kane) on the other side of the ring, so he should have been the winner right there. But Austin comes over and throws Bret out when the refs just happen to be watching the match. Poor Bret.
That set up the In Your House Final Four match between Bret/Austin/Undertaker/Vader. I'm curious to find out as to why Kane (fake Diesel) wasn't in it. He was the 2nd to last man eliminated if you don't count Austin's elimination, and the last one eliminated if you do count it. Might have been an injury, only thing I can think of right now.
Yeah I agree, there were too many losers in this 2005 edition. And for the 2nd year in a row, someone came out, and never made it to the ring. 2004 was Spike Dudley (to the Undertaker's gong) so that made the match a 29-man contest. Then this year, Scotty 2 Hotty (another loser) comes out and gets assaulted by Muhammad Hassan and never makes it either. Another 29-man match.
1991 was the first time it happened, Macho Man was #18 but never showed because of the Ultimate Warrior thing earlier in the show. His participation would have made that rumble a hell of a lot better than it was already.
Also I think in 1994 it happened too. There was a blank entry (supposedly Bret Hart from the earlier knee injury and breakup with Owen), but it was actually Bastion Booger who was a no-show. Bret did come out obviously, and limping, to a big ovation and ended up being the co-winner.
Also happened in 1998, I think. Austin was said to be attacked in the back by some wrestlers, and there was a # in the 20's where no one came out, and Lawler suspected it was Stone Cold, but a few buzzers later, Austin's music blasts, and everyone turns to the aisle to see him come down, but he comes in from the crowd and starts throwing people out!!
My picks for the 2005 match were HBK, Edge, and Benoit, and then I added Angle when I saw he'd be in. He probably lasted shorter than Nunzio would have!
Yeah I was really impressed with Mysterio in this one. Edge too, he went over 40. And Chris Benoit...it wasn't quite 2004 but he went 47:20! That's 108:41 in just two Rumbles!!! Steve Austin holds the record at 2 hours, 43 minutes I believe. HBK and Davey Boy Smith (R.I.P.) also have 2+ hours total, and their totals are just about the same!
They better have the Undertaker win in 2006, he deserves a title shot anyway. He's been in 7 or 8 rumble matches.
I'm curious to find out as to why Kane (fake Diesel) wasn't in it. He was the 2nd to last man eliminated if you don't count Austin's elimination, and the last one eliminated if you do count it. Might have been an injury, only thing I can think of right now.
I saw the end of the 1997 Royal Rumble on PPV, when I was 12 years old. And I remembered, just now, why fake Diesel wasn't in the final four. It's because his elimination doesn't have anything to do with Stone Cold. What happens is, after Bret dumps Stone Cold, Bret goes to work on fake Diesel. Bret then gets fake Diesel over. By himself. Then he gets tossed by the illegal Austin, before Vader and Taker get the heave ho. Fake Diesel wasn't in the final four because Austin didn't unjustly cause his elimination. It was the still legal Bret Hart.
A single spark can start a spectral fire.

Actually in the '97 rumble, Bret throws out Austin. Steve comes back in and eliminates Vader and the Undertaker at the same time JUST as the refs get done with Funk & Mankind (har har har). Then Bret Hart throws out Fake Diesel, then Austin sneaks up quickly behind Bret and dumps him for the win.
All 3 of Stone Cold's Royal Rumble victories are the most controversial of anyones. The 1997 one which I just explained. In 1998 there was an empty entry spot, and everyone thought it was Austin, but he comes out 2 spots later, FROM THE CROWD, and starts going nuts, tossing guys left and right.
Then in 2001, he got beat up before officially entering, then he enters a pretty good while later and proceeds to win (needed a steel chair), last eliminating Kane, with a couple chair shots and a big clothesline.
I guess the Rock winning in 2000 was pretty controversial. Many say the Rock's feet touched the floor as he and the Big Show tumbled out, but there were no camera angles to prove it. At least I didn't see any.
i saw an angle and yes they did touch,in fact they PLANTED on to the ground simplt to hold shows weight,i guess they never intended to make a story out of it until it happened
I just watched it in slow motion a few times, and Batista's feet were down first. It went like this:
Batista's left leg Cena's right leg Batista right leg Cena's left leg
Cena's second leg hadn't quite landed on Batista's back when Batista' seocned leg hit. John Cena won. I wish they just used instant replay like what happened at Great American Bash '04.
They both hit at the same time. Batista was going to powerbomb Cena over the rope but he fell too. Cena's toes hit at the same time as Batista's heels.
Yeah, WM 21 should be killer. And there is a 6-man ladder match! I was hoping and wondering if they'd have one, and now they will. I'm so glad. This show will be worth all the $50 it costs.
Something interesting about Batista/Cena in the 2005 Rumble. When they both landed on the floor at the same time, the clock was at 50:50 (I use a stopwatch with a minute AND second hand, very precise). Kinda ironic and coincidental, only there was no draw this time, like there was in 1994. Pretty interesting.
Not like it matters much right now but I downloaded the match and I watched it frame by frame and daves right foot hit the floor at the same time johns left landed on daves back.
Greetings, earthlings We have now taken over your radioooo-Hit em' High (Space Jam)
apparently batista was supposed to win cleanly but lost his balance and clearly hit the ground before cena .also it must have looked weird to some people to have batista throw cena out so quickly when they restarted , im glad it happened this way builed up john cenas credability
I was watched that bit of the rumble about 8 times in slow mostion and it my look like Batistas feet hit 1st since he got out 1st but watch his left foot an you can see that dosent hit the ground till both of Cenas hit so Batista realy one.
