Worse than The Sun?

I don't mean the real Sun obviously, that would be silly.

Just watched the first episode of the new series and was wondering if i'm the only person who finds this woman truly hideous. I ask as everyone I talk to assures me that Catherine Tate is just a gentle harmless comedy and I'm now questioning my sanity as I seem to be the only person who believes otherwise.
It's like watching 50 years of English comedy heritage being destroyed in half an hour. It's moronic! It's racist! It's homophobic! Every joke is stolen from someone else! It relies on catchphrases and swearwords! There were more sophisticated shows than this in the Sixties!

I'm sure the majority of replies to this thread will be fans of Tate confirming that we truly are amongst a confederacy of dunces, but if just one person agrees with me... Well that would be nice.

it is slightly, but then again i have a number of gay friends who all love the show. she doesnt do it in an offensive way, its just light hearted fun!

i do not agree with this. in some sketches she makes fun of other people's jokes, but most of her sketches are completely original.

she bases many of her characters on the type of people you would meet in real life - this is what makes it funny - as it is an exaggeration of these type of people!

It relies on catchphrases and swearwords!

the catchphrases are what make it funny! whenever i watch the granny sketch i sit and wait for her to say "what a *beep* liberty" - thats the comedy! you know its coming, and yet it still makes you laugh!

not all her sketches use swearwords, this is an unfair comment.

There were more sophisticated shows than this in the Sixties!

you have just stated that you find catherine tate offensive, and yet you brand people as "dunces". this is quite a contradiction isnt it!?

maybe people disagree with you as the majority find it funny, and appriciate her fantastic acting and scripting, but you just dont see it.

anyway, comedy appeals to different people. not every1 will like the same thing.

Seriously though, this show is terrible, it's in the same class as little britian. This is comedy for idiots, and I think that point was kind of made in extras, which is an amazinbg comedy.

This is best described as council house comedy.
