What exactly is a Chav? It's obviously slang of some sort used in England, but can somone explain to the best of their ability with examples?? haha

Ok well it's someone who wears tracksuits and other tasteless items of clothing, probably not very well educated, loves rave music etc...

shareI think it's a bit ridiculous that she is labelled a chav, it's probably because she's a footballer's wife and they are generally labelled chavs although "upper class chavs"lol. The real chav is more the people you seein the dreadful tracksuits and so on...ew:(

Wasnt living in the country when the term CHAV first came about but on my return i hear its named after the class of young adult from my local town, Cheltenham, CHeltenham AVerage! Its not necesarily tracksuits, thats more northern, more the adidas jogging bottoms and tartan baseball cap, also it helps if you drive a nova or fiesta that has had a lot of money spent on it and looks like crap!

i got told that chav stands for Council House And Violence because it was first people on council houses that started wearing fake burbery and stuff but then everyone else started doing it aswell

so basically it's pretty all about what they wear? So people hate chavs because of what they wear? wow I thought they yelled at people and stole things.
