Up to now, I am inclined to think NOT.
I am disappointed with every film i watch after this one.
The story, the visual reprsentation of the 'entity', the cinematography...nothing i have seen surpasses it.

I think there are many good ones out there, that are just great in a different way as Tale of two sisters. It also depends on what your preference etc is, but yeah atots is an awesome movie
shareATOTS is being remade in Hollywood. Let's hope it doesn't suck like the other Hollywood remakes of Asian horror films. The original ATOTS is great.
shareBlah, they really dont know when to quit do they. I doubt the remake will be good seeing as how they always dumb things down. ATOTS is a smart movie, one that makes you think so there will be A LOT dumbed down. Plus a whole lot of neat CGI will be used to spice up the dumbness. I doubt we'll even recognize the movie lol.
shareNope. "A Tale of Two Sisters" the best film I've ever seen, but that doesn't make "Shutter" any less enjoyable. It's still a solidly entertaining film.

That is a very bias statement. I could just as easily say "but is anything as good as Shawshank Redemption???" If you have a favorite movie, why are you knocking all other movies? You are basically pursuing a self-defeating ideal of trying to find a movie you like better then your current favorite movie. Personally, I think Shutter blows away the unbelievably overrated AToTS. Honestly, I've heard so many different interpretations of the that movie, that that fact alone turns the movie off for me. Not to mention, the scares just felt weak to me...but to each their own.
What I'd say to you is try not to look for a movie better to you, because how can any movie live up to your hope that it will be the best movie ever? If every time you watch a movie with the anticipation that this could be the best movie ever, won't you always be disappointed? I didn't know a thing about Shutter going into it, so it effected me a lot more than it would someone being psyched up about the movie, ya know?
ATOTS is more psychological thriller than horror. Shutter is pure horror. And damn good horror if i may say so.

I enjoyed both. (Shutter & A Tale of Two Sisters) Both had their share of scares, creepy moments and good endings.
The Hollywood re-make of Shutter is awful so they should leave ATOTS alone!!

I haven't seen Shutter or a Tale of Two Sisters but how do they match up to Audition or Old Boy.
sharekinda different as Takashi Miike's films are really warped and shocking and Old Boy is amazing but a thriller. I loved Old Boy and Audition so I recon you will like both Shutter and TOTS
