matt on the rebound?

is it just me or does it seem that matt's been on the rebound since he and kris broke up? that was how long ago?

he's totally not in love with kris. if he was he would've tried to get her back. junior constantly tried to get her back (except when he was engaged to that girl whose name escapes me) but even then he knew in his heart that he loves kris. matt on the other hand is just acting like a jack@$$. he would've been the bigger man if he told them congratulations even though he doesn't like it.

He was engaged to Cory Matthew's lost sister. I'm glad Matt did congratulate Junior last night. I don't think he was just acting like a jack ass, he just couldn't get over what he thought was love. He could have easily vetoed Jean and Pablo's decision to let Wildfire race, but he said he wasn't going to let his feelings get in the way. He was justified to be pissed. Last year, the way Junior acted was messed up with him firing Kris when she was working for him after shen and Matt got together and then punching her (even though it was accidentally) in a club. I remember in the beginning of the series hearing Junior say that if Matt wanted to throw away the friendship, it was fine with him so Matt's anger was justified especially since he and Junior made up.

He and Dani were involved when Kris first came into their lives so its not surprising to me that they would get back together. Besides, I hated that Dani did not have much to do on the show. Searching for her mother and having a love life and now a career were great though.

reply

Um, to those who say Matt was never in love with Kris--Pablo confirmed Matt was in the prior episode.

Also, it was Kris who dumped Matt. She didn't explicitly break up with him until he found her in Colorado, but she was the one who did the dumping, not Matt.

I feel he has good reason to be pissed too. Jr. is the one endangered Raintree's well-being last season with his need to get even with Kris and Matt because K/M were dating. Has Jr. ever apologized to Kris and Matt for that? No. Despite it being Jr's fault, Kris still gets back together with Jr. (But, then, again, she always was a gold-digging whore as Ken Davis so wonderfully observed.)

reply

While I think Matt was justified for being pissed and like him with Dani better than Kris, I never though Kris was a gold digging whore. My problem with Kris is that she seems to always be going into border line Joey Potter mode (she hasn't gotten into that level of annoyance yet). When I say Joey mode, she's written as the sympathetic character who can do no wrong. When Junior (or Matt for that matter) wants Kris, they can't have her b/c it's not the right time, the Ritters won't approve, she doesn't want to come between Junior and his dad, and every reason under the sun. When they are unavailable that's when she wants them or gives them the guilt trip. As much as Tina Sharp was a beeyotch, Kris did try to make Matt feel guilty for his decision to date her and then she all of a sudden becomes attracted/connected to Matt once again when he's with Gillian. I'm not going to throw in Dani since she was only pissed at Matt for training her horse along with Wildfire for a race in season 2. With Junior, she kind of made him feel guilty when he was dating the blonde in season 2 and got on his case for not telling her that they moved in together and then when he's about to get married to the congressman's daughter she all of a sudden regains the feelings for Junior. Then to make Kris much more sympathetic, they have to make it a point to make every female dating Matt/Junior act like a complete byotch so when Matt/Junior break up, Kris looks good and not like a homewrecker or the chick who doesn't know what she wants.
Back on the subject of Matt, I never thought he was on the rebound for Kris, I always thought of him as the guy who never really knew what/who he wanted in life. First he starts off broken up with Dani, then he's hooked on Kris, Dani (when Kris returns from jail after the 90 days for stealing Wildfire), broken up with Dani and hooked on Kris, wants to leave Raintree and is into music, hooked on gambling, hooked up with Tina Sharp, back on gambling, back with Dani, still wants to leave horse racing/Raintree, broken up with Dani, dating Gillian Parsons, torn between helping out with running Raintree and traveling with Gillian, finally with Kris, then broken up with Kris and back with Dani. With Junior he knew what he wanted which was Kris, getting his own rep built w/o his father's support, and a quick bull riding hobby. Neither of their ways are wrong, Junior just has more stability than Matt. I also thought Matt had more of a connection with Gillian than with Kris. I am glad that they're ending the show with the right couples being together Matt/Dani, Kris/Junior and none of them bitter towards the other. And as much as I don't want to see the show end now, it's better this way than to do 2-3 more seasons and then possibly have the quality of the show go to crap by having repetitive storylines of Kris bouncing from Junior to Matt and then making Dani bounce from hateful to loveable character.

reply

I know what you mean about the Joey Pottering of Kris. Joey was more likable and more responsible than Kris was/is. I'm glad we agree Matt has a right to be pissed.

I have to say, Dani is the better of the two females. Even when bitchy, she always takes responsible for her actions, while Kris whines and moans and makes up excuses.

"With Junior he knew what he wanted which was Kris, getting his own rep built w/o his father's support, and a quick bull riding hobby."

That's not exactly true.

Jr. is a ladies' man--every character has pointed it out including Jr. (when he talked to Gillian)---except in terms of plot/seasons it said TOLD rather than SHOWN (vice versa with Matt and no character on the show has accused of him being a ladies' man--it is only the Matt haters on various fanboards who portray him that way) which is why there are tons of dulusional Jr. fans who think he is one-woman only man man. And, it has to be said, he has always treated Kris more like an acquisition to taunt Matt with than an actual love.

Kris herself has said that Jr. is 'restless' in his passions and he himself pointed it out to Laura ("you met me in between passions. The last one was bull-riding, now its the environment." This is a paraphrase since I don't have the episode taped.)

Jr. did go way in terms of not having his father's support--but he had to pushed that way by Kris and Dani, and even so, he still takes for granted that he is Daddy's favorite. Just last episode, he was trying to get Dani to come back to Davis and she had to tell him 'I never had a place on this farm even before I moved my horses to Raintree.' (Again, I don't have the episode taped, so line is paraphrase.)

"if he was he would've tried to get her back. junior constantly tried to get her back"

He did try to get her back. While Jr. was off at a nude beach with Laura, Matt was still trying to discover Kris's whereabouts. ('I spent 6 months looking for you')When he finally discovered her, he tried to talk her back into coming, but she was so guarded (and he himself could only be away from Raintree for so many days because of farm duties) that he had no choice but leave her. When she came back, he asked repeatedly if she missed him or their relationship and why not and she blew him off again (and was being irresponsible to boot, only adding to his stresses). When she came back home, she went straight to Jr, just like she always does because the whore will never get Matt a chance. (I love Matt for calling her out on getting back together with Jr. and getting married so fast. What were his exact words? Something like 'why are you rushing? trying to hide the fact you are making another mistake.' Go Matt!)

Jr. also dumped Kris. When she tried to explain why shouldn't just choose Flame, he got up and walked away instead of being understanding of Kris's decisions. Despite having money, he didn't try to buy Flame back from Gillian or get Flame back when Gillian sold Flame to the one rancher. (Sorry, writers, but Flame belongs to Matt. You even said so in the episode where the horses got rescued that the horses were legally Matt's therefore writers' stop referring to Flame as 'Kris and Jr's horse.' Flame hasn't been their horse since mid season 3.) Also, in season 2, he didn't try to get her back when she was dating Kerry.

reply

in case you didn't notice, junior did try to win kris back in season two, but before she started dating kerry. maybe junior was just trying to do things for himself that season. he did leave his house and trash his porsche. junior probably was trying to respect that fact that kris was with someone else. granted that he tried to get back with kris while he was with that girl this season, but he probably realized that he loves kris and she's the one for him.

but whatever. i still think matt's actios weren't justified. then again, that's just my opinion. so whatever. say what you want but that's what i believe.

And, my opinion is that Matt's actions have been justified, so you can say whatever you want, but I will continue to keep my opinion.

And, Kris didn't ask Jr. to trash his porsche. In fact, she questioned him for doing so.

reply

"junior did try to win kris back in season two, but before she started dating kerry."

Yes, he tried to win her back while he was flirting with and dating Rebecca. History repeated itself with Laura.

Jr. was only doing things for himself because Kris gave him an ulitimatum after the dumbass helped steal Tina from Raintree and then tried to act like he was all innocent and did no wrong.

reply

he didn't steal tina from raintree. tina left on her own will (which just happens to be money). in case you don't remember, he told her just to please his dad and told tina that he knew she'd decline. tina was the one that went to ken davis to make a deal. not junior.

Dearie, I have the season 1 dvd and Jr. clearly partipates in Tina's decision to leave Raintree. Even Kris calls Jr. out on his betrayal to her and Ritters by helping out Daddy Dearest to get Tina to race for Davis Farms. In case you don't recall, it is one of several reasons that she broke up with Jr.

reply

don't call me dearie. one of the several reasons? what are the others? cause as far as i'm concerned thats the only reason they broke up.

Kris also berated him for not being supportive of Dani as well as for acting like a Davis. Her main reason was for Jr's betraying the Ritters, but she did explicitly mention Dani and Jr. acting like Daddy's Spoiled Little Rich Boy as well.

And, since you seem so inclined to remain rude, darling, I intend to keep calling you dearie.

how am i rude? is it because i didnt put please?
