The demise of this show is just bad circumstance..
I'm somewhat a fan of this show. Parts of it are captivating to me, but others are kind of cheesy and awkward. Then again the world of horseracing seems like an acquired taste..
My point is I can't help but wonder what the fate of this show could have been if a few things were different. For one thing, I just read the trivia and noticed that this show was produced for The WB and almost moved to The CW around the time it changed. And it's on a network called ABC *FAMILY* so I'm guessing the fact that this show is aimed at families, and about an uncommon subject like horses makes it somewhat makes it hard for this show to be easy to present to an audience. A thing I like is alot of the acting is legit (at least for characters like Kris, Dani and Junior)especially for a show whose subject matter is something foreign to alot of the people. Also, ABC Family is a cable channel so it doesn't get as much exposure than if it were on a big network. I'm beginning the 3rd season and so far I don't find much problem with it. The chemistry between the couples they put together (except for the Matt/Kris thing.. they just seem to brother-sistery for me, especially the way she always considers the Ritters family to her) is pretty good. If this show were maybe more younger generation focused.. like The OC or Gossip Girl, I think there could have been alot of potential for this show to have become successful and let the world more into the exciting world or horseracing.
