Ryan Sypek in Greek

but not so unavailable after all !

And that kiss! just horrible!

reply

Well...I'm glad I left the room for that part. i wondered what happened. Thanks for the graphic description.

I do wonder sometimes...are the actors bad actors or bad kissers?
When they have a kissing scene and it falls flat...which is it?
Are they unable to act like they really like the other person or are they really bad kissers?

It sounds like this kiss was intentionally bad, but his scenes on Wildfire aren't always great either.

reply

You guys do know the kiss was meant to be bad to give Casey more insights into herself and what she wants in a man?

I'm glad he had that kissing scene because 'Ryan Prince' was basically Jr. at college. Which isn't an acting stretch. I'm glad RS had the balls to do that kiss because he certainly never had the balls to take risks with Jr. and actually take the consquences as a character. (If I drank a shot everytime Jr. got let off the hook on WF for his actions, I'd have alcohol poisoning. Micah Alberti, god bless him, not only took risks and consequences on Matt's behalf but let his character be damned by fans because he knows a good acting challenge when he sees it.)

reply

...What are you talking about? haha. He got let off the hook? I know you don't like Jr.'s character...but Ryan is actually a pretty decent actor, and what you said didn't make much sense..

Atonement- Best movie of the year.

What I said didn't make any sense? Try reading your own writing.

"He got let off the hook?"

Is the 'he' in question Ryan Sypek or Jr. that you are asking me about? Once you clarify, I'll be happy to answer your question.

"but Ryan is actually a pretty decent actor"

That, my dear, is called an opinion. I personally think he has been coasting on his looks since mid-season 2 and I can't recall any serious acting on his part since season 1. That is my opinion.

If Ryan S. really wanted to show his acting chops, he could have done so. I was looking forward to season 4 to see how Jr.'s betraying his sister and the Ritters and Kris with the revenge/illegal horse race would be played out because I thought the consequences would be quite fascinating to watch since Jr. would actually have to redeem himself instead of relying on being Daddy's Favorite Son. Instead I got treated to Jr.-is-a-Saint-and-can-no-wrong (and knows he is Daddy's Favorite Son too) from the get-go at the start of season 4. Which was boring, ludicrous, and beyond ridiculous from any number of standpoints including Ryan's acting. Micah has never been a fan favorite, but he was willing to dig deep in Matt's psyche and do stuff that was potentially unlikable to give more meaning to Matt. Matt evolved over the seasons, Jr. remained the same and I attribute part of Jr's staticness to Ryan's inability to take risks with the character and go the whole way in exploring the consequences (even if it would have made the character unlikable). He always took the easy way out. So, no, I don't think Ryan is a decent actor and most likely never will.

reply

ok thanks for your opinions.
back to the topic now !

yes that disgusting kiss was intentional and showed a different side of RS since up til now weve only seen him as Jr, the perfect guy for kris. At the beginning i thought ok well ryan prince is just Jr but once i saw that kiss i was like, this is a whole different guy !! terrible kissing

Ryan's acting ability has nothing to do with that discussion because he doesn't decide what will happen to his character. The writers chose not to give him a dramatic reaction.

Give all the criticism you want, just make sure you send it in the right direction.

As for the characters he played being different...
how could you tell? He didn't say much. Personally I would prefer to look at him than listen to him anyway.

reply

i thought his acting in greek was just hilarious. that kiss made me crack up.

"Ryan's acting ability has nothing to do with that discussion because he doesn't decide what will happen to his character. The writers chose not to give him a dramatic reaction."

On behind the scenes interviews (found on the season 1 dvd set and the season 2 stuff that used to be online), the actors have all talked about how they contribute to the writing of the show and the direction their characters go in. The writers have acknowledged how they shaped the characters accordingly. True, the writers do have the ultimate control, but they are very persuaded by character popularity as Marjorie David and Stephanie Ripps admitted during season 2. Ryan clearly is afraid of alienating his fans, otherwise he would not have half-assed his portrayal of Jr. or influenced the writing of the character the way he did.

"bookreader your so wrong about junior and ryan. For being a bookreader, your not too smart. I'm a book reader too, and smart. I'm also tv smart and ryan, junior IS good. Junior never did anything bad so where you got your I'd have alcohol poisoing bit is beyond me."

LOL! Next time you decide to brag about how smart and well-read you are, you might try using proper grammar and punctation. Seriously, if it was your goal to reveal what an idiot you are, you just succeeded. Piece of advice; pay attention in English class instead of daydreaming over Ryan and you might actually gain some wisdom on how not to make yourself look so foolish so easily.

"...junior IS good."

That is called an opinion, my dear. When you learn the difference between fact and opinion, then, we'll have a good debate about the character and personality of Ken Davis, Jr. Until, then, I stick to my opinion that he spoiled littled rich boy who only gives a rat's ass about himself.

HEE. Solitare gets her *beep* pointed out to her and avoids responding her and instead attacks me in another topic. Rolls eyes.

I'm getting tempted to block her but she does say an intelligent thought now and again. (For example, her response to someone joking about Columbine.) However, those are few and far between.

reply

No offense, but you just sound like a bitter Matt fan to me. One that didn't get the ending that you wanted.

The writers didn't portray Junior as only caring about himself. That's his dad. He was influenced by his dad, but at the core he was nothing like him. They showed how much he loved Kris time and time again. I'm not saying Matt didn't love her, or that Junior didn't make mistakes, but so what? Kris made lots of mistakes, and so did Matt. At the end of the day Junior was the right one for her and they were in love. It's not about who did what when. They all screwed up at some point. Matt never seemed to know what he wanted with all his flip flopping between feelings for Dan, Kris, Dani, Tina, then Kris, etc. And he had a gambling problem. But that doesn't make him a bad guy, just like Junior's mistakes don't make him one.

And calling someone stupid because of their typing and grammar is not cool. For all you know that person isn't a native English speaker or just doesn't care about proper language use on the Internet.
