The 1970's song with the same name 'Wildfire'

Probably no one who is the age demographic to watch this show remembers the song from 1975 song by Michael Martin Murphey. It's title "Wildfire" is a song about a young woman who was lost chasing her pony in a blizzard. She becomes part of the local lore, and the farmer in the song hopes to ride off with her ghost to escape his hard times. I can't help thinking the writers of this tv series took inspiration from this song, and it's a deliberate reference to it, even just obliquely.

Give it a listen if you haven't already and post your thoughts.
