shareIt's dead in the water unless they go co-production with a Chinese studio then the story will be compromised by 2 studios doing a tug of war and making a mish mash mess of a mass market Hollywood western film that appeals to both markets.
And why does every film nowadays have to be part of a plan to kick start a franchise, why can't they just make films.
I agree, there are too many movies that are set up as potential franchise and they end up never making a sequel. That is why I sort of wished that they NEVER use cliffhangers on films unless they are guaranteed to make a sequel.
