Minutes to Live (SPOILER ALERT)

This episode made my blood boil. The man insanely waits to seek treatment for his erection that has lasted 4 days !!!

I see why, they get a Female urologist to come stab a LARGE bore needle into his member. He SCREAMS out in pain and they just tell him to hold still...

I would have 1- refused a female doctor since it is obviously a male problem, (if the women can do it so can us men) and 2- NO NEEDLES unless im knocked out !

This is an obvious case to have the patient under general anesthesia!!!

reply

Using a needle to aspirate is protocol. It wouldn't matter if the Dr was male or female it wouldn't hurt any less.

So you're saying all the MALE obstetricians/gynecologists should quit practicing, or change specialties? After all, the parts of the anatomy they deal with are a FEMALE problem, so they have no business practicing in that specialty, correct?
and 2- NO NEEDLES unless im knocked out !
I insist on being awake during SURGERY, unless it's actually impossible--like when my brain tumor was removed via craniotomy, I had to be put under. But broken bones? Breast lumps? You name it, I've been AWAKE for it. Oh, yeah, I also gave birth to a 10 pound baby. Men are such wimps.

1- I said I would refuse a female doctor period end of sentence. 2- if a female is comfortable with a male or female doctor it doesnt matter who helps her, however if a female is uncomfortable with a male doctor they get a female doctor for her, i worked in a hospital they do this all the time, and it was no biggie until it was a male patient asking for a male doctor, then all hell breaks loose as the patient is "Discriminating a competent female doctor" ...

They have different options for each procedure, the doctors choose what is best for them not the patient. think im wrong go to the nearest cemetary and visit the doctors mistakes.

Men are whimps.... Ive seen females that have flip out over a shot more dramatically than any male patient Ive seen

I'm a woman and I have never been given the choice of a female or male doctor, especially in the ER. Where would you get an idea we can pick?

reply

It is in the patients bill of rights, you have the right to refuse any person or procedure... This is where I pissed off nurses, patients would mention something they didnt want the nurse or doctor to do to them. I told them the truth, that they had the right over any procedure, and if they the patient did not want it done to their body the medical staff has to go by it.

reply

If a female doctor is the one who picked up your chart, it's the one you get. Don't like it? You're welcome to go to another hospital. You don't get to refuse the doctor you get.

Yes you do... Im going to assume you are in a small town or away from a major hospital... YOU the PATIENT have the right to refuse a doctor or a procedure period. IF you personally think that you get whatever gender doctor, that is fine, but their are alot of patients Male and female that go to same gender doctors. There are many married couples that believe that the modesty and respect requires them to see same gender doctors. please visit the site below, you will find this is a huge deal to a lot of ppl

The best obgyn doctor I ever had was a male.

In an ER, a female rarely can ask for a female doctor. You tend to get whomever has the least cases at the moment.

The protocol for a erection that lasted that long is to drain it. Maybe you just disliked the fact medical science has left this treatment alone figuring men would stop being morons if the only solution is extremely painful?

I personally NEVER seen any ER doctor refuse to get the requested/demanded gender... I have seen women in a full "tantrum" (that word doesnt fit as it was the patients right) and they backed off and got the female doctor.

I dont care how its done, as long as the PATIENT agrees to it, would men agree yes would men refuse yes.... BUT from seeing male patients being "talked into" letting a female doctor do anything to them while exposed I saw it to many times. AND I have had male and female patients explain their fustration and basically pissed off that it happened.... NO means NO.

Please go to this site, you may see many other patients views and what had happened to them....

Oh. My. God. A woman saw a guy's member. The world is going to end. Doctors see naked bodies on a daily basis. It's not a big deal. Women doctors can treat men and men doctors can treat females. Get over it!
Also, how do you think they would knock you out? Connect you to an IV! You would end up getting a needle anyway. Learn to deal with pain! It's a part of life!

reply

OMG I am the LAST person you need to talk about pain to.... 7 years NON-stop pain.... Hydro and morph only takes the edge off the pain so i can deal with it... A needle to the groin wouldnt compare..... Hell I would probably trade the one time needle to the groin, to get out of all the daily pain, Rx drugs...

1- NOT all men have an issue with being exposed to female doctors, BUT their are men that do. and they should have their bodies respected regardless of the opinions of others.

2- NOT all women..... read above.....

3- Generally it is only an issue when a patient has to be exposed, so placing an IV in the arm is not an gender issue... however a needle to a penis, yeah that could piss off any man.... Would you expect a woman to "Learn to deal with the pain" as a needle was going to her vag. ?

4- "Doctors see naked bodies on a daily basis" Yes you are right, however the patient does not expose themselves to others on a daily basis... and please answer this.... Doctors say its no big deal to see it, then why is it a big deal when they DONT get to see it.... (this normally stumps them and then they get pissy, i have seen it to many times)

5- Please read patients issues at the site below, you may see that there are so many DIFFERENT modesty issues...
