CHINBALLS IS THE WORST SHOWRUNNER!

Jesus Christ, that cunt has got a lot to answer for! He's RUINED Doctor Who with that Timeless Child bullshit, which means that all that came before will now have to be destroyed or heavily revised. We certainly can't look at those old episodes the same way again, that's for sure!

Well apart from the 4th Doctor era and especially The Brain of Morbius (January 1976) episode where The Timeless Child put that episode into much more perspective in regards to there being more Doctors than we have seen/known about.

The Brain of Morbius saw The Doctor battle the titular renegade Time Lord, who had been sentenced to disintegration for his crimes against the universe, only to have his brain saved by one of his followers. Intending to have his brain transplanted into The Doctor's head, Morbius engaged The Doctor in a psychic battle. As the two struggled against each other, Morbius tried to rip The Doctor's memories apart, conjuring up images of his past selves - including the faces of eight men who had never been seen on the show before. Producer Philip Hinchcliffe later confirmed to the Radio Times that the intention was to suggest The Doctor lived several lives before the show started.

Having said that, I do feel that Chris Chernobyl is not a great showrunner, then again that Peter Capaldi era was littered with poor showrunning and writing as well, and unfortunately both Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker seem to have suffered for it.

At least they have a get out of the Timeless Child scenario if someone wants to down the track dating back to Season 23 in 1986:

The Matrix is a gimmicky gizmo developed by The Time Lords that is a record of a zillion different things, including a complete record of all Time Lords. The Matrix was shown several times in Old Doctor Who. The most infamous being the season called The Trial of a Time Lord, in which The Doctor demonstrated that someone had tampered with The Matrix to falsify his own historical record. In fact, during the last episode of that season - The Ultimate Foe - it was revealed that The Master is the one who manipulated The Matrix to create a false historical record.

To be honest in my mind I just let it sit that the Master manipulated the Matrix and falsified the records again as he did in those 1986 episodes. As there was really nothing the Master did in it to show that there was a clear line of connection between the Doctor and the Timeless Child. Which was my biggest beef with that episode and the end result of it which even reminted in this latest episode with the way the Doctor was, I felt the Doctor accepted the information wat to easily/readily.

where The Timeless Child put that episode into much more perspective

Adding a religious agenda to a show doesn't "add perspective" to it.

If tomorrow Star Wars was bought by some Christian cult and the new episodes revealed that the Sith were really a group of Atheists that didn't accept the Word of God, including new footage with some deepfake Obi Wan telling Luke about Jesus, well...that doesn't add any fucking perspective to the original trilogy, it'd be just propaganda.

The problem is why would the master do this and then destroy Gallifrey. I can imagine someone else falsifying the matrix e.g. Rassilon for revenge but the master seemed angry the doctor was the important one and that's why he destroyed gallifrey so I don't think he'd make it up

reply

To mess with the Doctor's mind for a long time and destroying Gallifrey was just part of that, not like the Master held any real passion for Gallifrey or the inhabitants therein, a revenge that stays with someone and plays on their mind is a very potent one.

It'd be a cop-out if destroying Gallifrey and The Master's anger toward The Doctor was all just to "mess with the Doctor's mind for a long time" when it's been built into importance in the plot of the show. This isn't just some minor scheme by The Master where he dons some hokey disguise that we see through immediately as soon as he's introduced (*COUGH*EveryOriginalSeriesDrWhoMasterEpisode*COUGH*)

Yeah the master was always a bit manic but he wouldn't just destroy his home planet to annoy the doctor
