So just announced the title for Christmas is "the return of doctor mysterio" bit of a weird name isn't doctor mysterio Spanish or something for doctor who well the haters have already started saying it's going to be terrible based on it
The Spanish spelling would actually be "misterio" with an i, not a y. But yeah close enough. :) I think it's just called Doctor Who though, well at least in Peru it was, I don't know about other Hispanic countries.
No idea what to make of the title. I guess that is the point?
ETA: I googled it and came up with this: http://www.whoguide.com/mysterio.htm Apparently Doctor Mysterio was a thing in some Spanish-speaking country, but I don't really see a connection to a possible Christmas Special storyline there. :P
Many people think the show lost special elements and intricacies when translated into foreign languages. For instance, the version shown in Nigeria completely dropped the entire time travel element of the series in translation. Instead, the footage was used as a wacky comedy about a new, high-tech London flat which always experiences problems and has a variety of whimsical, wacky neighbors. As the series progressed, new actors would move into the apartment only to change how it looked and continue on misadventures with old and new monsters/lodgers.
Doctor Who sitcom?
