Queen alone

I know that this took place pre-9/11, but I find it hard to believe that they would ever let the Queen drive alone. It allowed for an effective scene in the film, but I don't think she drives solo around Balmoral in a four-wheeler.

Oh I could see her do it. She's a tough ole broad. She's a hunter, mechanic, and worked during WWII. She's not going to let someone tell her not to go alone anywhere.

Actually, I have seen several pictures of the Queen driving around by herself or with Prince Philip and other family members. The majority of the time I think she has a guard with her, but she is driving and the guard was a passenger. They probably do not let her out of site in the middle of nowhere as the film suggests.

I saw a documentary on Queen E about 10 years ago. One of the scenes showed her driving around some property and looking at her horses. She was driving a stick shift Land Rover and her main horse guy was riding shotgun. She was downshifting and everything. Pretty cool.
