I don't know why or if she hated Diana, but in reality, The Queen was a victim as well. This wishy-washy public bullied her into making this appearance and this statement about Diana's death when in reality, she had every right to not really care about her. Her only concern was her grand children and that is rightfully so.

I'll add to what I said, Diana was someone who wasn't appreciated by the public until her death. Hey, the National Enquirer didn't go out of business while she was alive did it? This means people - the public - ate up all the crap the media was dishing on her. Remember in the movie there is a real life news clip about her relationship with Dodi? The reporter said that people are again "questioning her judgement?" That's exactly how it was for her up until the moment she died. She was under constant attack. She was underrated while she was alive and completely overrated in death. She was neither of those extremes. Charles was always the scapegoat during this time. Charles is no angel, but the public hated him for so long after this, and even before. Even now, some people have never forgiven him.

The Queen was caught in between a rock and a hard place. The mother of her grandchildren and the mother of the future King of England was Diana. She had to walk the line, but she kept her feelings out of the media, which is what Diana should have done.

So why didn't Charles marry Camilla when they were young and dating then?

Diana was a neurotic and insecure childish woman who publicly embarrassed the royal family. I can't say as I fault the queen for not liking her.

reply

The real question is: why did people love her so much?

reply

That one is easy, because she only showed the public one side of herself and didn't tell the public of the wrong things she did. The Diana the public knows is all an image, a somewhat false one I might add. Both side did worng to each other but I think Diana was wose in the sense that she made herself look good while attepting to make the royal family the blame, and it worked for the most part. Diana side years with the Royals is mainly the only side we hear, and during the time the other members woulndnt say much because they wanted things to be kept private as they should be. Before she did that expose interview she had members of the Royal family supporting her and still on good terms. The Queen was sympathetic and attempted to interviene but nothing helped. When she did the interview she alienated whatever Royal support she had as well as angering her son william. The public fet sorry for her and she was a pro at putting herself in a good light. Her charitable work was not as altruistic as it seems because of the reasons she did them. She may have wanted to help people but she mostly wanted to make her in-laws look bad. If people read books and heard everyone's side and applied a rational mind to the situatiion, it would really change peoples perception of the late Princess of Wales.

Diana was a mental case with no sense of decorum. It is no wonder she wasn't liked by the royals.

reply

Diana committed the "sin" of thinking for herself, of using her own judgment. That condemned her in the eyes of "The Firm." The world is a lesser place without her.

Oh yes, the judgement of a mentally unstable, immature women. The world has moved on without her.

reply

Immature? Yes.
Mentally unstable? No.
The world has moved on without her? Yes. What choice do we have?
I still miss her.

We disagree on certain things and that's fine.

Well, I wouldn't call a women who threw herself down stair when pregnant and was bulimic while pregnant stable. When I say the world moved on, I mean for the better. Without her you don't really hear about a crap load inseams and antics that went on while she was around.

reply

Well, I wouldn't call a women who threw herself down stair when pregnant . . .
Depending on who you read, Diana did or did not throw herself down the stairs. Authors sympathetic to her say she tripped on a step and caught herself on the railing. Authors sympathetic to Charles say she deliberately threw herself down the stairs. The true facts are in there somewhere.
. . . and was bulimic while pregnant stable
Again depending on what books you read, there are differing reasons for her eating disorder.
When I say the world moved on, I mean for the better.
In your opinion. I still miss her.
Without her you don't really hear about a crap load inseams and antics that went on while she was around.
Yes. Without her we would never have known Charles' true colors, not that it makes any difference. One day, he will be King and his miss . . . uh, wife will be at his side.

I also recall hearing about her throwing herself into China closets for attention as wellm. Does it matter what the reason for her bulimia was while expecting? I also didn't ask if you missed her, I was referring to an overall general sense.

Charles true colors? I don't think he we ever was looked at that highly. After Diana her is shown to be in a very stable person with Camilla with her being a better example of a royal spouse than her predecessor.Diana only revealed information that made him look bad when she was no better. She was a hypocrite and a liar.

reply

Does it matter what the reason for her bulimia was while expecting?
Yes. I like to know why she acted the way she did. Was it a previous condition, as some claim, was it the actions of an immature girl trying to cope with the very regimented world that was/is the Royal Family or was it part of her reacting to the knowledge that the marriage she had such high hopes on would never be. I don't know.
I also didn't ask if you missed her,
I added that on my own.
After Diana her is shown to be in a very stable person with Camilla with her being a better example of a royal spouse than her predecessor.
No surprise there. How long had Charles and Camilla been boinking each other during their respective marriages? Yeah. A real class couple. (can you hear the sarcasm?)
She (Diana) was a hypocrite and a liar.
Again in your opinion, but she had poor judgment in some of her actions. We may never know the true causes. I've wondered if William might publish the true facts when he's on the throne, but then I thought he might not want to bring the whole mess up again. We'll see.

Basically, it boiled down to:

annoys The Queen",

Amanda Bynes is hot and Lindsay Lohan is not.

I doubt there was any serious rivalry between them.

One was just too public, the other was too reserved.

And the media basically glorified and vilified them both in an excessive manner.

Because Diana became more popular than she was .. I miss Diana .. She died on my birthday .. the worst birthday of my life .

I think more accurate reason is that she was an embarrassment. She was a manipulative self centered airhead who pushed people away with her actions.
