Not scary at all

This movie was supposed to be scary? It was just nasty.. The jump scares were all predictable and I never even watch scary movies. The monsters were also very weak, most teenage boys could have killed them easily. Absolute joke.

I think the only way you could possibly be scared by this movie is if you’re claustrophobic, because the monsters were definitely underwhelming.

The scene when she gets stuck was probably one of the best scenes of tension in horror. Neil Marshall nailed the look and feel of claustrophobia perfectly and I felt scared. The monsters may have ruined it for you, but that scene sticks with me. The lighting of the cave was also really well done. The sequel couldn't do it and it shows good film and set work.

I agree, silly girly film.

Finally a post about this film I can agree with. I can only assume all of the people talking about The Descent being the scariest film they've ever seen haven't actually seen many scary films.

Well considering the horror they churn out in 2024 catering to Gen Z, The DESCENT was actually a Masterpiece in Horror for it's time.. The sequel?? Definitely NOT

I'll admit, I've not watched any 2024 horror films in 2024, so I can't comment on that, but I think the last few years have been pretty good for horror. Considering that Pan's Labyrinth came out in 2006, I'm not sure I can agree with the statement that it was a masterpiece "for it's time", but I suppose if you're comparing it to I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge 2 or Final Destination 3, which also came out in 2006, then I can agree that it's the best of a bad lot.
