Is there any other japanese films that incorporate music similar to Swing Girls? The only other one I've seen is Nana. Any recommendations?

You can try "Linda Linda Linda". The genre of music and the mood is not the same as "Swing Girls", but a very good movie nonetheless.

I agree, Linda Linda Linda is a great movie of the same genre. Slower paced than Swing Girls, it still has its funny moments. James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins laid down the sountrack, plus the Blue Hearts effin rock! I've got all their songs but doesn't anyone know where I can get the girls' version of the title song?

A UK film called Swing. Stars Hugo Spears and Lisa Stansfield as his ex girlfriend. Spears leaves prison with a saxophone he is learning to play and tries to form a swing band with Stansfield as the singer. Light hearted British comedy with some fantastic music.

If you liked Swing Girls, I bet you'll like "Kamikaze Girls" my favourite Japanese comedy ever. It's not about music, but the soundtrack is too cool to describe. Watch the first few minutes & see if you like it:

And this is kind of a stretch, but in the Kitano film "Dolls" (2002), one of the 3 subplots is about a famous j-pop singer who is being followed by 2 obsessive fans. That movie is nothing like Swing Girls, though.

I don't know of any other Japanese music films, but Chak De India is similar in that it has very interesting characters coming together to form an unlikely, but winning team.
