Truer words were never spoken - blowing up Parliament - Wall Street

When Evey first asks V about blowing up Parliament, he says:

"The building is a symbol; as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people. Alone a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people, blowing up a building can change the world."

Imagine if the New York Stock Exchange or S&P or AIG or JPMorgan/Chase were blown up. No, not to kill anyone, although those f@cktards certainly deserve it after what they did to the world's economy. No, just as a symbol. Blow up a couple of these, have these a$$holes scampering, whimpering for cover. Wow!

Its called "Propaganda of the deed" and the idea is about 130 years old. The last time an anarchist attacked the NYSE it killed 40 and wounded 400. Instead of sending them "scampering for cover" it provoked a backlash from law enforcement and the general public (who dont take well to their places of work and worship being bombed) that effectively annihilated the anarchist movements of the late 19th and early 20th century .... so at least some good came out of it.

Yeah, I forgot about that. That was in the 1920s; the pock marks are still on the wall.

But I'm suggesting that it would be done "V" style - when no one, or as very few as possible, were in the building. Again, no need to kill anybody, just bring down the building as the symbol - the "propaganda of the deed" indeed. Do it at night, not while there was trading going on.

And I'm not about anarchy at all; although, obviously, blowing up one of these buildings would be an anarchic move, a la Fight Club or something. You can't really do it the way "V" did it, blowing it up while orchestrating a revolution at the same time. That's a nice conceit of the movie, makes it that much more fun. No, the goal should just be that the government really reigns these *beep* in, which they haven't really been able to accomplish with all the lobbying they've done to keep themselves from being regulated.

The point is you cant blow a large commercial building up without killing people. I'm sure people like Alan Moore see civilian deaths as a feature of propaganda of the deed, not a flaw, but it tends to turn off the average person and rightfully so.

Well, not unless you're in the movie Fight Club. But you're right, of course.

My first reaction is, Who the hell is Alan Moore? Then 8 seconds later, after looking him up, my second reaction is, Yikes! This guy is an obvious psycho who needs to be put away!

Only someone like V could get this done. Right.

If you think blowing up the NYSE would only "have these a$$holes scampering, whimpering for cover", you need to educate yourself in economy basics.

9/11 sent the world into a massive recession and crisis. Blowing up the NYSE would make a lot of victims of capitalism even worse.
