So why did he give himself up?

I get that it was a inducement for Creedy to give up the Chancellor but given how he was able to get whoever he targeted why did he decide to voluntarily give himself up?

Just my two bits, of course, but I think V was planning it that way for some time. He fell in love with Evey, and I think he realized that for her generation to truly be free, all of those involved in the creation of the monstrosities we saw in the movie had to die. In this way, his legacy of freedom and individuality would pass on to Evey, without any of the sins he still carried.

So by assassinating all of the others (leaving Creedy and Satler remaining), he set it all up to take them out in one fell swoop in what he knew would be a suicide mission. I think part of his relief upon seeing Evey return was that it all hinged on her, hence the design of the train car (where he showed her how to activate everything).

TL;DR - It was a suicide mission so that he could take out Creedy and Satler, and remove himself as well, in an effort to wipe away all of the sins of the previous generation in the hopes of letting the next generation be free of that legacy.
