Terrorism

I'm afraid this movie would be censured for apology of terrorism, in France, since we even sue 8 year old boys for talking bad at school.

When this movie was released in the US it was heavily criticized for being "sympathetic" towards terrorists and promoting distrust in government. What is funny is that the original story was written about the Thatcher government, but the Labor government of the 2000s was much closer to turning Britain in to a police state than old Maggie ever came close to.

reply

You say 'much closer' like it was anywhere near, which it wasn't.

reply

Really ever visit Northern Ireland under Thatcher? when the police and army murdered and disappeared people with impunity.

reply

That was northern Ireland. How about London where a unarmed Brazilian was gunned down because he appeared to be running away? Take your labor crap and shove it. While some of what Maggie did was despicable, what has happened in the last five or ten years is almost beyond imagination. Orwell was right, he only messed up the date.

1) There is no official mechanism of censorship in France. Not since the Occupation.
2) The symbolism and metaphorical content of the movie just went right over the head of almost everyone.
