Is this movie based on middle school, or high school?

Good question. These girls look to be at least 16, but I don't recall seeing any of them driving.

I know I heard one of them referring to colleges not caring what they did in middle school, but they definitely looked older than middle school. And no, they never show any of them driving. Vanessa looked old enough to drive, yet her mother drove her around.

They were in high school.

It was said that they're in 8th grade. Yes, they look way older.

"It's around 4 o'clock. We've been here since 12 o'clock. Five hours is like enough."
