could Nikki do jail time?

i'm not exactly well educated in the American law system but after hearing about the case of Phoebe Prince who killed herself after being bullied and the bullies were all charged with murder, could Nikki realistically be sent to jail for her harassment of Vanessa? i think if Vanessa wanted to she could sue Nikki for verbal abuse and she would have Emily, the principal and her mother to back her up, as well as all the e-mails printed out. i don't know if someone could get actual jail time for that but would she get community service or some form of punishment if Vanessa wanted to press charges?

Nikki and Tiffany would both have done probably no time, just gotten community service and probation. Although there have been some cases where it has resulted in a suicide or attempt, then the stakes are raised. Personally, I would love to see every girl like Nikki and Tiffany spend a good 3 weeks in jail.

in the uk they would get away with it, the only possible punishments would be done by the school but I have never heard of anyone doing jail time or something for school bullying.
