I just don't see how Vanessa could give Stacy that second chance. With all the pain, misery, and bullying Vanessa went through I don't know how she could give her another chance. What would you do?

When it comes to best friends, there's always some love-hate relationships and that was the case between Stacy and Vanessa. Although Stacy did some bad things to Vanessa, she also did some good things to her. For example, at the start of the movie Stacy bought some expensive new clothing for her.
Because Stacy also did some good things to her, it clouded Vanessa's perspective of her. It's understandable why Vanessa kept forgiving Stacy because Stacy did some good things to her.
I guess it's sort of like when it comes to family members. Growing up with one's parents, you would inevitably get into arguments with your mom and dad and there were times when you cannot stand them at all. But to totally estrange them would be going too far because your parents did many good things to you and for the most part, most people would think that their good parts outweigh their bad parts.
Also Vanessa had been beaten to the ground at that point. She was clinging on to the hope that her nightmare would come to an end.
shareyes, the crunch is if stacey sided with her, the nightmare possibly could end in a flash. Thats what vanessa tried to do.
I have a ? on how happy things were before the boyfriend incident tho, eg. when they made her do the shoplift she looked miserable afterwards.
however I dont think I would have gave a chance after the party incident.
also one reason why she gave her a chance after the homework incident is stacecy's story ensured they both got out of trouble without vanessa having to snitch on her, stacy didnt make a claim that vanessa copied her.
