I tried to watch this with my 9 year old who was HEAVILY bullied

last year (cyberbullied too; a girl she thought was her best friend created a FB account with my daughter's name and called all the classmates names for half a year until we found out). It's scary how similar it is with what my daughter had been going through. The parents' reactions too (there's a reason their kids are bullies or bystanders). We've just reached the after 'party' scene, in which she's crying, but then I saw her looking for pills, freaked out and turned off the TV. If anyone's on the mb right now, should we go back to watching it? Needless I say, i don't want her to see any suicide attempts

She's not actually trying to kill herself she just can't get to sleep so she overdoses on the pills. She does end up passed out on the floor though but it was an accident.

Yes, she does attempt to kill herself. However, right after she takes more of the pills, her mom finds her passed out on the floor and calls 911. So if you don't want your child seeing that (and I don't blame you) then I definitely wouldn't watch it. Another movie that specifically involves cyberbullying is the movie Cyberbully from ABC Family. Although, I think Odd Girl Out is a better movie.

I realize your post is a few months old, but I'd like to reply. First, I just want to say how bad I feel for what your daughter is going through (and what you are also going through). I hope things are going better for her since you have posted this.

Anyways, as a parent, I would strongly encourage you and her to watch the entire movie. This would be the perfect opportunity to discuss suicide with her. Many times, at that age, it seems as if nothing will ever get better. She needs to know that no matter how low she feels, suicide is NEVER the answer.

Good luck with everything :)
